September 2020
Firstly, a massive thank you to all local residents and workers for literally keeping many small Artarmon businesses alive during this 2020 pandemic. Thank you for your care and consideration from the bottom of our hearts.
Luckily, despite the Covid-19 fog, the wheels of progress have been turning at Willoughby City Council and Artarmon is destined to benefit significantly in the next twelve months.
Here is what we do know:
- Wilkes Avenue streetscape upgrade had been approved and is scheduled to commence in September this year. There will be raised gardens, atmospheric lighting and a new pedestrian crossing on Elizabeth Street. New 40 kmph zones will be considered in streets close to the station.
- Hampden Road streetscape upgrade is due to start in March/April 2021. It will include public toilets, a section of the Chatswood to St Leonards bike lane and relocated pedestrian lights to the corner of Broughton Road and Hampden Road.
- The stairs in Hampden Road between Broughton Road and Francis Road will be reduced in size so that the footpath at shop level can be widened.
